Meta Description Checker: Diagnose Missing and Repeated Descriptions

A meta description check verifies the description delivered by a page and whether it describes the page accurately. It cannot force Google to show that sentence or prove a CTR improvement before users have seen the result.

Check the implementation before rewriting copy

Inspect the final response after redirects and identify the page's description element. If a JavaScript framework adds it later, compare initial HTML with the rendered head. Check for duplicate elements, empty values, template placeholders and text inherited from a different page. SearchBastion's public Meta Checker checks an entered URL; do not assume that one run inventories every description across the site.

Diagnose repeated descriptions at site level

Export the URL and description for representative templates or the full inventory where practical. Group repeated values. Determine whether a shared CMS template, fallback field or translation pipeline creates the duplication. Correct the source rather than manually editing one page while the generator continues producing the same text.

Worked example: product variants share a generic sentence

Suppose every product receives “Buy the best products today.” Replace it with a factual summary of that product's type and distinguishing detail, based on information visible on the page. Do not invent delivery promises or discounts. If variants are not intended as independent search destinations, investigate their canonical treatment rather than writing hundreds of cosmetic description variations. This is an editorial example, not measured campaign evidence.

Verify both meaning and delivery

After publishing, inspect the live element and compare it with the body. A fixed character range is not a guarantee against truncation. Google can choose a query-dependent passage from the page even when a description exists, so a changed snippet is not automatically an implementation failure.

Use query and device context when comparing later CTR results. Keep unrelated ranking or seasonal changes in the interpretation. Follow Google's snippet guidance and use the companion title review to keep the whole search promise consistent.

One public response on 30 October 2026. The title pixel width is an estimate, not a Google display measurement. No missing on-page issues in this result does not prove indexing, rankings, event delivery or complete site health. Re-running later can return different content.

The observed title is 54 characters while the description is 148 characters. These counts describe this response, not a required length for every page. Use the result to check whether the text accurately describes the page; Google may select a different title or snippet.
